As the weather warms up, there's no better way to enjoy your car than to take it for a day trip! And we're lucky to have a number of fun and fascinating places to go within an easy drive of Heber Springs. Check out three of our favorites below!
Blanchard Springs Caverns
Blanchard Springs Caverns is located a scant 54 miles north of us and features an incredible array of outdoor recreational activities. Front and center, obviously, are the cave tours that take you through the amazing caverns. There are a couple of different tours offered, including the relatively mild Dripstone Trail and the rigorous Wild Cave tour. Whatever your level of physical ability and comfort, there's a trail for you. And when you're done in the caves, you can take advantage of the campgrounds where you can hike to see the Blanchard Spring namesake, swim in Sylamore Creek or just take it easy for a night out in nature.Â
Ozark National Forest
85 miles west of us sits the Ozark National Forest, home of some amazing outdoor activities. No matter what you want to get up to in the great outdoors, load up your new Ford and head out to the forest. There's everything out here, from kayaking, horseback riding, hunting, swimming and family friendly camping. Explore the 1.2 million acres of forest, see incredible waterfalls and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life for an afternoon, a weekend or even a long vacation.Â
Walnut Ridge
The farthest trip is also perhaps the most esoteric. 108 miles to the north is the little town of Walnut Ridge, but for the Beatles fan in your family, it's a must see stop. Back in 1964 during a much needed vacation, the Beatles had a very brief layover at the Walnut Ridge airport. Despite trying to keep the stop lowkey, the secret quickly got out and the town showed up to catch a glimpse. And they've never forgotten. The town is decked out in Beatles paraphernalia, has a Beatles monument and even a Beatles festival in September every year (so maybe plan your trip for a few months from now).
