Nothing quite captures the first few weeks of spring like a post-winter check in with your car. The nasty weather and cold temperatures can wreak havoc on a vehicle and also prevent you from really getting your car out of the garage and in for a good wash. But now's the time to make up for those dreary months. Take full advantage of the warmer, sunny days and follow this checklist to make sure you don't miss anything! Or, you can bring your vehicle into our exceptional service department and let us handle it all for you!
Check Your Tires
Fluctuating air temps can cause all sorts of changes in your tires' air pressure. They also can suffer a bit from any ice, snow and slush accumulation you might have been driving though. So now's a perfect time to take a close look and make sure everything is aired up to the proper PSI and there aren't any emerging cracks or odd wear patterns. And don't forget your spare! It's easy to overlook, being out of the way on most cars, but make sure your spare is aired up too! If you don't have an air pump, drive into our service department and let us get you aired up!Â
Replace Your Wiper Blades
You should, ideally, replace your wiper blades about once a year or so anyway. And after a hard winter of freezing temperatures and icy windshields, now is as good a time as any. Especially because, as we all know, it's probably going to be a rainy couple months here in Arkansas.Â
Wash And Wax Your Car
Now is a great time to give your car a good scrubbing. You might also want to buy a little touch up paint and check for any chipped paint that might have occurred due to cold weather, scraping ice off your car, and other wintery factors. This is especially a problem on older cars with aging paint jobs. Then, go ahead and wax your car. This may not be something you keep up year round, but spring means pollen and wax will provide a protective barrier between the pollen and your paint.Â
Check Your Brakes
Your commute is a terrible time to learn that your brakes aren't working well, so take a few minutes to look for any signs of wear. Then take the car out around your neighborhood and feel for any unusual give in the pedals and listen for any weird grinding or squealing noises. Winter road conditions can be rough on your brake pads and rotors and this is an essential part of your car's safety. To be the safest possible, swing your car into our service department and let our trained and certified technicians take a look for you.Â
Clean Out The Interior
It's not a safety or performance issue but while you've got the car out, you might as well give the interior a thorough cleaning. Spring cleaning isn't just for your house and a clean car can work wonders for your peace-of-mind during a commute.Â
